Wantage Taste of Caribbean takeaway open for business

A WOMAN who has been cooking since the age of 15 has opened her own Caribbean takeaway business.

Chantelle Young, who lives on the new Kingsgrove development in Wantage, has opened Taste of Caribbean from home after being taught how to cook by her mother-her-law, Sharon.

She said: “When we moved to Oxfordshire from London there was no noticeable Caribbean takeaway shops and I saw an open market for it.

“I love to cook I enjoy it very much and I enjoy feedback from people. I look forward to what the future holds and take every day in my stride, I am starting off from home with the vision of opening a food van – everybody has to start somewhere.”

Mrs Young works by using pre-order system and can deliver across the town and in Didcot. She offered delivery and collection starting from 6pm on the day of cooking.

She added: “We work by pre orders to avoid wastage and Jamaican foods have to be seasoned from the night before to enjoy the full flavour.

“We have kept the spice level mild to medium but if anyone requires more spice they can message and we can arrange this.

“We will be adding things to the menu along the way there is still plenty more to come with our menu.”
